TECHNOLOGY Q and A
for Smaller and Emerging Companies

Ted Wirth — PlumChoice, Inc.

Crash Course. After years of faithful service, my printer is beginning to take more and more time to keep running. Any suggestions?

As a first step, you should follow the troubleshooting steps outlined in the owner's manual. If it still won't work reliably, consider buying a new printer. Low-cost home and small business printers generally give three to five years of reliable service. After that, repairs will be more costly than a new one. If you have a moderate- to high-cost printer, find a shop that will give you a fixed price quote before dropping it off for repair.
